Greetings. Back when I was in the Navy in 96 I bought a Beretta 92FS, so that I could practice with the same gun I carried while on duty as a base police officer. I love my 92, and long ago lost count of the rounds it has sent downrange.

However, I recently realized that after nearly 10 years of ownership, I have never seen another one like it. Not even in pictures. I tried looking it up on the web, with no luck.

It is a basic 92FS 9mm (not Elite), but it is 2-tone, with a brushed stainless slide and a black reciever.

Its a lovely weapon, and I much prefer the 2-tone looks over the blue or INOX versions. Considering how pretty it is, its remarkable to me that I have not seen more of them.

Does anyone else have one of these pistols, or at least have information about them? When did Beretta make them, when did they stop, and why-oh-why are they not selling this great looking gun anymore?

Every two tone one that I have seen was the Elite IA or IIA.

Is your frame steel or alum/alloy? If its steel you have an early Elite. If its alum/alloy, it might have been a custom ordered/built gun...

Thanks for the reply.

It's not an Elite. It has a black alum frame and a brushed stainless slide. Trigger, mag release etc. are brush, and the decocking lever and rear site are black.

I purchased it NIB, so I don't think it is a custom. I'll see if I can bum a digital camera from work and post a pic or two.

It still might be a custom gun...

Beretta, S & W, Remington, Winchester....they all do it... My dad bought a nib 700 BDL a few years ago, paid the same price as any other BDL, but his gun has a perfect Claro Walnut stock, and under the butt plate it says Remington custom shop and has a seperate serial number...I don't know if it was a reject stock from the custom shop and they just decided they didn't want or the customer backed out.... I've seen a few other guns that were like this... but the price was marked way up.

You may be right. I've still had no luck in finding any hint of another gun like this one. However, here are the images I made of it.

That is indeed a very nice 92...

The Elite guns are finished the other way around, with a brushed frame and Bruniton finish upper.
