Two nuns were driving down a lonely streatch of hiway on a very cold and rainy night. They had not met any cars or passed any houses in quite some time. The car started to sputter and then died. The nun that was driving then noticed that the car was out of gas,

The two nuns prayed for guidance and set off in the rain in the direction they were traveling and soon came in sight of a rundown farm house. They stepped up to the door and knocked loudly. They were pleasantly suprised when an elderly man in bib overall carrying a jug of moonshine answered the door.

"Evnin Sisters, what can I do for yah" the man asked.

"We would like very much if you could give us some gasoline for our car" replied the first nun.

"Well I'd surely like to help you out but I don't have anything to put gas in" the man replied" but you'd better come in and warm up for awhile"

The man thought about it for a while and said " I do have a container that should hold enough gas to get you to town " he got the container and filled it wath gas and sent the sisters on their way.

" That man will surely be blessed for his kindness. We must say a special prayer for him at mass"

"Oh yes ,he was truly a kind and generous soul"

As they were pouring the gas into the tank a Methodist minister happened to drive up and obsreve them pouring the contents of what appeared to be a chamber pot into their car!!

"Good eavening ladies. Do you reqire assistance?"

"No we're doing just fine" one of the nuns replied " but thank you for stopping".

The minister replied "Well you ladies have a fine evening. And by the way you have alot more faith than I do"

Yup, faith makes the world go round, but gas works better for cars.

Why you guys call the stuff "gas" while it's a genuine fluid?

Here we use real gas
LPG (liquified petroleum gas) under high pressure
it's a fluid, but normally a gas.

The stuff we use in cars also is called
"benzine" (petrol)
and we have cars on "gasolie" (diesel)
Why they call it gasolie (gasoil) it's a big mistery to me.
because it ain't gassy at all.

Keeps me wondering...
And how ab the alcohol the use in south-amerika...
(brsil etc...)

They call it whiskeygas ??? wodkagas
cachacagas?

Harshok -

In this country, gas is short for gasoline. We also at times call it fuel.

Called petrol in the English countries.

Guess you can call it what ever you like - some call it "go juice", too! :D

Well.

As you might be a dieseloil user you know the stuff
while filling up the tank is foaming/frothing/lathering.

So I usually call it "sop" (broth/suds (the stuff to do the daily dish-wash with).

('t sop is op... -- meaning -- I'm out of diesel...)
sorry, carried myself away a bit.. :D

petrol is short for petrolium. i do know that much.

gasoline acctually stands for something i can not remember from chemistry. "oline" is a suffix meaning X amount molicules in the compound or something. i dont know its been awhile chemistry was way too early in the morning and way to long ago to remember.
