Does ruger offer this, or do I need to buy the parts and do it myself?

No, Ruger does not offer this as an option or service. You'll have to purchase the parts and do the job yourself, or have a smith do it for you. If working with a stainless gun and frame it's not really that big a deal, you have to change out the hammer, trigger and grip-frame which will require some work with file and emery paper to complete the job.

If working with a blued gun, the grip frame comes in-the-white, and will necessitate bluing after fitting to the frame.

Doing the job yourself gives you a feeling of satisfation, and seems to satisfy the tinkering urge we all seem to share.

Enjoy the project!

Where can I get the parts at a resonable price. I see that Brownells has a kit for $167.

Yes, Brownells has them, and I beleive that Midway does too, although I think its an alacarte type availability through them, I haven't seen a "kit" offered for the conversion.

I did my SS Super Blackhawk using parts from Brownells. It needs fitting but was not hard to do. It took me 4 nights after work at a couple of hours a night. Probably could have done it faster but I tend to take my time with stuff like this.

The hammer and trigger were drop in. The grip frame took quite a bit of work with files, a stone and various grades of sandpaper and finally Scotch Bright Pads. I finished with the grey Scotch Bright pads. I did have to take some material off the main frame on one side but it all blended perfectly.

The job looks factory and it was well worth the cost and time. It's a great revolver that fits my hand perfect.

This is not a straight parts exchange but if you take your time and work slow it's a fun project.
