Hi,

My gun, a Winchester 94AE in .444 marlin has a creepy two-stage trigger.
Whit a good grip on the lever and when pulling the trigger, i first here a distinctive click then continuing before stopping at the letoff point. Also, the trigger is really heavy, maybe ok with such a calibre.
Can i do something to correct this or is this a normal issue, maybe i should buy an aftermarket sort of match trigger.

Besides,
my .444 plinking download:
24,5 - 25,0 grains of 2400 behind a 240grainer (Sierra) gives excellent accuracy.

Thanks for any help.

Besides just polishing the sear, I think the onlly thing you can do with a 94 is weaken the spring. Too much of that and it won't fire. In other words, let a trigger smith do what he can, but don't expect too much.

Here's an excellent article by Mohave Gambler on how to smooth up the 94 action: http://www.time-slice.com/mohave.gambler/favorites/LeverGuns/Winchester94.htm
Also you may want to change the hammer spring to a lighter weight spring: http://www.gunsprings.com/RifleShotgun/Winchester_Rs.html#Win94
I'd recommend the spring pack with both 15, and 13 pound replacement hammer springs, the price is right. Start with the 13 pound spring, and if that works fine you're set, but if any light hammer strikes then switch to the 15.

There are other things you can do but these 2 should be a great economical start.
