I have a Beretta 92FS and I want to replace the hammer on it. Something more in the line like the Wide-Spur hammer that I have on my Springfield 1911A1 Mil-Spec. Do you guys know of any possible way that I can get one if anyone makes them? It's just a little hard for me to cock the hammer as if it was a single action pistol.

Hello young man,

I've never come across such a thing, honestly, Looking at my beretta this minute, I don't think its possible for it to get wider or longer and still work on the gun. I think if it was flared at the edges, it would interfere with the decocker, so I am doubtful that anything like that is in production.

The Beretta is a difficult pistol to get used to and it does take allot of practice and training. I teach my fellows that the hammer is off limits to human contact, both for thumb cocking and hammer lowering, instead insisting that they use the decocker to drop the hammer, and the trigger to raise it.

Admittedly, the DA/ SA conversion is difficult, but it can be mastered with practice. I think the most useful way to master it is to make sure that you are looking at the sights thorugh the whole stroke, and hold the pistol more firmly in your non-shooting hand than shooting hand.

Good luck to you friend.

Steve

Like whitehunter I couldn't find anything like that in my gunsmith supplier catalogs. To get something like what you want you might have to find a gunsmith that can weld up and reshape a stock hammer then rechecker the top.

Shouldn't be to bad a job for someone whom installs bolt handles on military firearms and does colt 45 work. Will be a bit pricy though as it would be on an hourly rate.
