Would like some help with a rifle I picked up from a Buddy tonight.

The barrel says: "Model 94 W.C.F." It is chambered in 30-30.

The Serial # is in the 1.23 mil range.

The wood is FANTASTIC! It is a 16" barrel model...is this a "Trapper" gun?

My question....Why can't I find this rifle in the current "Blue Book"? The only 94's are "Post 64".... :(

I was told it is a 1940's era rifle....how do I confirm this, and it's approx value?

Thanks!

Yes your rifle was made in the 40's. Can't do much better than that as poor records were kept during WWII. I would venture to guess that it has a flat barrel band, correct?

It actually doesnt have them. This might make be think that it was made prior to WWII. Checkin another book that I have the dates are as follows..

1197212-1238584 =1940
1238585-1287469 = 1941

So this would explain why is doesnt have the flat band. Winchester likely not yet geared up in the War effort.

What book are you referencing that has all this great info?

Mine is 1,235,XXX so I guess 1940.....

Any thoughts/info on the Blue Book pricing?

I also have a 30-30 given to me by my grandfather. He purchased it brand new in 1945. The gun is in excellent condition. I am also curious as to the value, although the thought of selling it would NEVER cross my mind.

I bought a little brown book by Madis (I think) that has all manufacure dates of all winchesters. Was only $7, could probably find it on MidwayUSA.com.

CoolCloo,
Since there is a family history to you rifle it is worth much more to you than some crony at a gunshow. In my area you can pick one of these up for $350-400 with average wear. KEEP IT!

I will definitely keep the gun, no doubt about that, I was just curious. Thanks for your reply.
