Just got a new S&W 460XVR and a few boxes of hornady 200 gr SST. I have only been able to shoot 5 rounds though it so far. But hope to get it out this weekend. The recoil wasn't bad at all. I have dies order for it and I am hopeing to do some reloading for it if I can find some reloading info. Do you think a call to Hornady will do any good? Most all my other handguns are easy to find info for. But have never had anything that has just came out before. Was going to post a pic but not sure I know what I'm doing there. :D

I wanted to order a 460 Die set but every where I looked, they are on back order. Also I found that they are using the 454 Casull sizing die, not on specific for the 460.
I am surprised that there is no load data available for the 460. The load data for the 500 Mag was out before the guns made it out. It would be nice if this information were available.
I did get 6 boxes of the Hornady 200 gr. rounds. I shot mine and the accuracy is great. Now I have to go shoot it at long range. :D

I got a chance to shoot one at the local range the other day. A fellow shooter showed me his and invited me to shoot it. He didn;t have too much ammo for it so I used my 454 Casull ammo.
LOVED the sights, and the extra weight plus the porting really tamed the 454 loads. I never wanted a Smith before,but...

I was really excited about the articles I read about the new 460. Not for the reason of purchasing one, but because of the new reloading possibilities for my 454 Casull. I just couldn't wait to try some of them 200 gr SST's that Hornady is loading for the 460. I called Hornady and inquired about when they planned to release these bullets for reload purposes. They replied that they have no intention of releasing the 200gr SST bullets for reloading. The only way to get these bullets is in factory loaded ammunition!
They blew my bubble right there on the spot. I could just see those pointy little red-tipped bullets screaming out of my TC Encore. But I guess the lawyers have stepped in on this one and said that somebody might try to load these in a lever-action 45 Colt. Surely everybody knows what can happen if this situation occurred. So, I guess you might have to wait a bit for load data as well. I suppose we are destined to stay status-quo with the flat points in both these rounds if we reload.
