I have a couple of 94 action 30-30's... A 94 Pacific Coast Ranger and a model 64 carbine. Would like to mount a scout scope on one of them but would rather nor have to drill and tap anything to preserve the original condition. Is there a scout scope mount out there that can be installed without altering the original gun?

Don't seem to be getting any bites on this one. With about a zillion 94's out there, a lot of them owned by older guys with failing eyesight like me I thought for sure there would be some scope mounting tricks that I could use. It seems the best thing would be to drill and tap a spare barrel band and leave the original band intact. Leupold used to make a scout mount that fit on the barrel band and the rear sight dovetail but they no longer offer it. I've heard that Burris had one but haven't confirmed that yet. There are a couple of others that require permanent changes to the gun. Can anyone add to that. i imagine there would be some need for a good base. One of my hunting buddies is also lookinf for the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks...Y

XS Systems makes some scout mounts you might look at. Im not familiar with the Pacific Coast rifle. Is it a side eject? Burris used to make a scout mount but it requires drill and tap. I have one of those around here someplace if you are intrested. Its made to fit the two sight holes for a remington but can be used on any barrel. Winchester is now making a scout type 94. It might be easier to just buy one of those.

Brownells sells the XS sight systems lever action scout mount. For the Winchester it's $55.00

The stock number is #006-000-035

It will fit M-94's with the rear sight dovetail 4 inches ahead of the reciever.

check their site at http://www.brownells.com/Default.aspx

When you open this site you can put in the stock number and it will take you to the item to look at.
