Okay, now that I have my .45 I need a few more mags... It came with two, but I like to keep a few spares... I've been looking and they are out of stock everywhere I have looked with no backorder. I see that ProMag makes some, and they are about half what a factory mag costs. I've had bad luck with aftermarket mags in my Beretta 96, and scored a great deal on a closeout of them @ $20 a piece... if I could find them for this 8045 that would rock... unless somebody out there happens to know where I could get some decent factory mags (even if they are used...a little).

Unfortuneatley, they don't have Beretta Cougar .45 ACP mags... :(
I found a site that has a Pro Mag brand mags for my pistol. How do these ones stack up?

I found a site that has a Pro Mag brand mags for my pistol. How do these ones stack up?I am NOT saying ALL Pro Mag magazines do this but. . . . I bought two high cap magazines for my wife's SIG P228. After about four trips to the range, the magazine catch slot started to bell from the recoil. Evidently, the steel used in her magazine is on the soft side. I lightly trimmed the bell with a file to ensure that it would not drag in the magazine well and have been keeping an eye on this ever since. In Pro Mag's defense, they offer a lifetime guarantee on their mags so I gather that if I return the magazines to them, they will repair or replace them. My wife doesn't go shooting all that often so I have left things as is.

"Pro Mag" is a very good aftermarket magazine, but the Italian-made "Mec-Gar" is even better. Stay away from "U.S.A." brand aftermarket magazines. IMO, they leave alot to be desired.

I had some Mec Gar mags for my 96 that were absolutley junk... They might have also been for a 9mm 92FS as well...

Unless someone shows me a better aftermarket magazine, I would tend to stick with the factory original. As Rolls-Royce once said, "The quality remains long after the price has been forgotten." Forgot how much was paid for a Rolls? You gotta be kidding! :p

in my Beretta 92 and my storm, the pro mags are not worth a hoot, but the Meg-gars are outstanding. USA mags are terrible.

I know for sigs that mec-gar manufactures some of the factory magazines and I believe they do for other companies as well (e.g. beretta). I have never heard anything good about promags, and personally stay away from them.
