Anyone recognise the scopes in this picture? They are vintage 4x20s but I have no idea of the manufacturer. They are almost identical to Nikko Stirling 4x20 Mountie scopes but they have the following text on the rear bell:

Model 7
ORIGINAL
4x20
Fixed Reticle
Coated
[small "S" within circle logo]

These photos date back to 1975/76

Maybe the yellow oval might be a clue? I've seen a similar yellow oval sticker on both Nikko Stirlings and Webley 4x20s but its not either of those.

Thanks for looking :)

Hmm... I'll try but I doubt it. I only know one person who has a high resolution version of the image but he cannot share it due to his contract. Its a rare unpublished photo.

So is the old Simmons logo a small letter 'S' inside a circle?

Well I got lucky :)

I was able to get a photo of the text on a scope that someone had found at a gun dealer. Unfortunatelly he doesn't know the manufacturer either.

So who is the manufacturer who's logo is a letter 's' inside a circle?

Swift made spotting scopes mostly, but they also dabbled in rifle scopes. Saw a Swift spotting scope at the gunshow here last weekend. HUGE old clunker, I'd a bought it but the guy wanted more than it cost new. No fancy zoom on this baby but had the full set of eye pieces to change the power settings.

I'm not so sure it is a Swift after all. I had a look at some on ebay. Even the very old ones have a different logo. Its not an 'S' in a circle but the word 'Swift' with some design around it.

Well, maybe if we keep guessing :o somebody will tell us we're both wrong and come up with th right answer.

Can you tell if the tube is one piece or are the ends screwed on like the old Weavers and Lymans ?

Maybe old faucettb can shed some light on the picture.

The ends do screw on like the old Nikko Stirling, ASI, Crosman and Webley scopes I have.

I just bought an old ASI 4 x 20 scope which also has the letter 's' inside a circle.

So I don't think that the 's' inside a circle is a logo after all.

Does anybody know what the symbol means? I have a similar ASI 4 x 20 scope which has an 'infinity' symbol instead of the 's'.

Don't know what it is, but I'd sure like to see Leupold come out with a 4x20mm. It would be the perfect ultralight scope. Put a 9 MOA Duplex reticle in it and it would be perfect!

Kanuck, Burris does make such a scope (4x20) I believe it's in their Compact Series.
