I just bought a new rifle and didn't want to spend the money on another Leopold.
The Swift scopes have my interest.
Specifically, the 4x12 power.
Its going on a little Sako 243.
Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the Swift line. I've had some friends who used them and liked them but have not had that much experience with them.

They are priced with the Simmons, but I'm just not a Simmons fan.

I appreciate your opinions.
Tom

Recent article in one of the gun rags said good things about the Swift line of scopes. Especially the 4x14, which I know you have a great hankering for! :p

Congrats on the new rifle - now, don't give this one away!

I have the 4-12 x 40 A/O
I have used it on my .308, .270 and it has finally found a home as a QD for my 20" Bushmaster AR-15.

The AO is perfect for small game or precision shooting. Fine crosshair and solid finger adjustable clicks (I can hear them with the headphones on and feel them with numb fingers) Dead on adjustment. My only issue is the eye relief. I wouldn't put one on a heavy hitter for fear of forehead dents.

Never fogged up on me and it comes with a lifetime over the counter guarantee.

I understand the Swift Optics has been doing precision glass on some very high quality equipment for a very long time (1926, I think)

It isn't the most beautiful addition to a rifle, but I have yet to hear a complaint from anyone I have asked.

I was looking for Swift a while back and could not find them for sale anywhere. I had thought they went under...glad to see this is not so.

Just today, I found my Marlin .22 bolt took a good banging around from the move, not sure how considering the packing but it happened anyway.

Topped with a Swift 4x40 wide angle this cheap little rifle will shoot pretty dang good. The Swift took enough of a hit to dent the vertical adjustment screw cap in far enough to crinkle the coating/paint on it. Also, the little rings that say "up" and "left" got knocked off. Closer inspection found the front glass has minor cracking around where it meets the outside of the tube. Checked zero and found it low and left, adjusted the knobs and put 10 rounds in 1" @ 50 yds (not a good rest and I was shaking a little too). Just glued the adjustment indicator rings back on, can't complain about the durability one bit considering the beating this one took. Definitely will check into their current models since the optics on these are as fine to me as Leupold. Carried this little rifle a lot in all sorts of weather and never had a fog problem or nothing.

Call the company, you may be surprised what they say...

Just sent them an email relating what I posted above and how happy I am with this scope. The abuse this scope took would likely have killed other brands yet this one is still perfect shooting despite being not so perfect looking anymore. I'd never expect them to replace this scope, it took serious abuse and still shoots perfectly. I'm not happy I let this happen but I can't be any more pleased with the outcome. May not seem like a big deal being a .22lr but this little rifle & scope combo has proven highly effective. More than one squirrel has fallen to a head shot 75+ yds from this one....provided I did "my part" that is!

Another thing I forgot to mention. This is the only optic I have that will come out of the airconditioned house into the hot humid FL air and not get condensation on the glass. The tube gets wet but not the glass, all the others fog over.

Now, all I have to do is start making money again so I can set the Swift 687M on top of my '06!
