Hello,
I replaced the "too big" scope with a Millet 1" tube Red Dot sight which I hope to install into the rings of my old mount.
It came today, but it is so short that I need the extension to fit under one of the rings. The extension would completely support one end of the sight.
The sight is very light;it may be OK.I would like your thoughts. Would any of you install the sight ?
Thanks,
Frank

one option is to replace the rings you have. Mount a weaver rail in place of your existing mounts, then get 1" weaver rings to hold the scope to the mount. Both the rail and the rings you can get at walmart. Probably less than 15 bucks for both.

bh1,
Thanks;I'm aware of that.My mount is a Williams, and I would have to drill and tap holes to mount the Wever base to the Williams base.A better choice is to buy(if still available)a Willims ring that is offset to shorten the distance between the two rings.
Before doing anything,I want to know if that extension is strong enough to support the sight.

The extension is made just to do that. Its plenty strong enough. The red dots are made to fit pistols and rifles so its an advatage to have the option of the short tube.

Thanks;that's the kind of response that I'm looking for.Is that an opinion,or do you know it to be a fact?
Either way,I'll take your advice.

I have 2 Simmons redots set up as long tubes with two extensions, one at each end, and have had no problems. I cant find the instructions but yours should have something about it.

No,there is nothing mentioned in the instruction sheet about the extenson.
I installed it as per your input, and had two outings at the range with it. It seems to work just fine.
