Went up to the club the other day to hunt one of the biggun's. Hogs that is. Set up downwind from a old planted corn patch that they all but ravaged. I took my new .50 Beowulf so as to see how it would work on the several big hogs that we have had to move into our club. I had the 300gr. Gold Dots loaded into the 5 shot mag that I had made up from a Mil-Spec M16 20 rounder. The 30 shot mags will hold 12 rds. but the're not legal for hunting.(Actually the 20 shot mags will hold 7 shots but I installed a spacer to limit them to 5.) Just before sunrise I noticed that the far corn stalk moved. I set the trigger and took off the safety and waited. Coming toward me down the rows was one of the 50-60 pounders. He fed slowly accross the rows away from me. I waited about as long as I could for the big guy. I imagined the 300gr.Gold Dot takin' that 50 pounder through the shoulder. In my mind it wasn't pretty. Just before the smaller hog stepped out of the corn and into the blackberry bushes I put the crosshairs high on the back of his neck and pulled the trigger. 2 1/2 pounds later I heard the deep boom and saw the familiar red mist. The hog just flopped over. He never even did the "I'm really dead but this one nerve doesn't know it yet" kick. The Gold Dot took about 3 inches out of his spine just forward of his shoulder. This was not the shock and penetration test for the Wulf that I had wanted but he will be some fantastic smokin'. I'll give it a week or so and then go try to find one of them big ones. The WX is gettin' a little cooler now so they will tend to stay out of the thick bottoms 'til later in the AM.--------- GOOD SHOOTIN'-------pruhdlr

Hi pruhdlr,
Was wondering if you were planning to meet up in "Old Town" next weekend (Sunday)? I have been in contact with Marc and he is going to try to meet me there. I just plan to check the place out and see how this will work. Interested?

Hi Bill,
Looks great! Met up with James and Hank. They gave me the grand tour. Lots of land and it appeared little pressure. Saw game. Plan to go back in November. It is the same area as Cedar Key. Wish you were there. James has it all figured out, great guy. They are a friendly bunch. I think it will be fun and a great hunt.

What exact area was offered to hunt? Will you stay in the camper? What is the closest motel? Take a look at the area on Terra Server and see if it is wet, dry, and how thick it is. James seems to be a great guy by reading his posts. He seems very helpful. I sure would like to come down in Nov. or first of Dec. Please keep me informed as to what you guys are gonna do. Thanks------pruhdlr
Would suggest you gentlemen use the PM function for these coordinated efforts.
Thanks!
