Hey guys,

I just bought 500 115 gr. FMJ Bullets from cabelas, and I can't find anywhere that states what the oal should be with these. Being Winchester bullets, I looked on their website for load data, and the only oal it gives is the max oal for any loaded 9mm, the one found in all manuals. Having said that, I looked at my Hornady load manual, and found that their 115 gr. bullets should have an oal of 1.10, or whatever it was. I just picked a happy medium between the max length (1.169) and this, so I loaded mine to about 1.160. Anybody with load data on these bullets, please let me know.

thanks,
vanbuzen9

vanbuzen9That's the factory OAL for Winchester 115 gr. 9mm Luger. I load Winchester 115 gr. 9mm Luger bullets too and experienced the same difficulty in determining OAL for my reloads so I just took a Winchester factory round and measured it. Shoots pretty well with 4.5 to 4.7 gr. Bullseye in my wife's SIG P228. :p

Thanks for your info marshal. I to would have measured the oal on a factory round, but I didn't have any on hand.

thanks,

I realize that 9mm ammo is fairly cheap to buy, but I want to reload for it also. What do you reloaders use for powder, that has been sucessful in results? Iam shooting a 92fs.

Just be careful about changing the OAL of the 9MM once you have a load that works well.

If you shorten it up much at all, even .030" it can increase pressures quite a bit and the 9 is already a fairly high pressure proposition.
