Just picked up a Marlin .17 HMR bolt action. I am looking for an inexpensive but good quality scope, if such a thing exists? I understand I get exactly what I pay for however, I don't want to pay 200 bucks for a scope on a 180 dollar gun. I am leaning toward something in the Wal-Mart inventory possibly a Simmons? Specific model suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

The BSA line of scopes have always been a pretty good buy for an inexpensive scope, and their warranty is pretty good, also.

They make a scope specifically for the .17 HMR that has bullet drop compensation out to 150 yds.

I put a straight 4X BSA Sweet 17 on our 917. I like it. I am shooting at pretty short distances around our out buildings. 75 yards is a long shot. Targets vary from skunks down to picket pin squirrels.
I have tried the trajectory knob some but dont need it. The scope does just what I need it to do.
I have a very old straight four power on my .22 Magnum Marlin. This scope has very thin cross hairs. It is not as fast on moving critters but for small targets it does very well.

try Midsouth Shooters Supply
