I spent an hour or so this passed weekend getting my new Bisley hunter sighted in for this seasons deer hunting. I put a 2x Burris scope on it and I'm shooting 330 and 335 gr.cast in it. It took a few rounds to get it printing on the target at 50 yds. but after I got it zeroed it shot pretty good. I shot 2 different targets one for each weight bullet to see if there was much diff. in POI between the two. The 300's grouped 2 3/4 in. and the 335's group 2 1/2 in. and the POI did'nt change at all for that distance. I plan to hunt it from a tree stand in an area that only affords about a 50-65 yard shoot and it appears it will shoot MOD ( minute of deer) so it's 1st up for this years season. I,m really looking forward to harvesting a deer with it as it would be my first for a wheel gun. I forgot how much I liked the 45 colt until 6 months ago when I bought a used 45 Bisley and started shooting it again which got to me more interested in hunting with one so I ordered a Ruger hunter in a bisley grip and now have 2 of them. I used to own a S&W model 25-5 8 3/8 barrel and really loved the way the colt shot a heavy bullet and did'nt beat you up.It's what made me come back to the 45 colt as a hunting handgun and I like the single action way more so ruger gets the nod.

I'm shooting cast performance bullets over Winchester 296 seems to be a good load. I have not put it across the the chrony yet but it groups well.

Hey Guys,

I've got a Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt, and 7 1/2 inch barrel. I'm wondering if Ruger would sell the scope rib they use on the Hunter to be retro-fitted to my revolver? Haven't contacted them yet.

Lobo,
its' not a scope rib, it's a barrel from a Redhawk that is adapted to the single action frame. You can get a pretty decent scope mount for your Bisley without too much trouble. If it where me I'd get one that mounted in a sturdy manner if you are shooting heavy loads. The mounts for a Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk will work just the same for your Bisley as it is the same frame if you did not already know that.
