Can anyone tell me where you order Varget by the 8 pound keg? I am tired of getting the 1 pounders because it doesn't take much to run through a little 1 pound canister when loading for my 243 and 22-250. The local Gander Mountain sells it for $139.95. If I can get it mailorder for less than that including the hasmat shipping I would rather save some green. Thanks Guys.

www.powdervalleyinc.com seems to have some of the best prices I've seen for name brand.

too bad you're not in mich. i'd split a keg, that way
whipping and hazmet costs us both less.
try natchez, they had 1/2 off on hazmet.
If you want to make a bigger order, for all your powder, there are some places that wave the hazmat on a 4-8lb kegs. You could go in with another shooter on this and both save money. Don't have the web address if front of me but can find it if interested.

www.grafs.com will pay the hazmat fee on 32lbs plus his shipping is in the price (besides a $4.75 per order) but his prices are higher, of course. I've done that once with him and have bought powders on special at www.natchezss.com

I'm a big fan of Varget. If you think you go through it fast on a 243 you should see how fast you burn it up with a 45-70.
I also shoot a 243 Winchester, what load do you like?

I will have to look at my charts but my Model 70 Coyote in a 243 really likes the 60GR Nosler Orange Tip with Varget. I don't recall the exact grains of powder without my books because I shoot the Varget and also get awesome results with IMR 4895. Both of the IMR and Varget shoot like a million bucks in my 22-250's and my 243. My Kimber 22-250 will shoot one hole ragged groups with 34GR IMR 4895 /50GR Nosler Orange Tips/ Rem Brass and CCI bench rest primers. I love it but the coyotes and other vermin don't much care for it ;)

I would love to go in with someone else who needs some powder. I have a couple of buddies that hunt but they shoot factory ammo or will get custom loads for their guns from me. They are not as big of stickler as I am about accuracy. I spend to much time at the range to mess with factory stuff plus I love to reload. I have as much fun reloading as I do shooting. The $$$ I save really pays. I do supply a few custom loads for friends who head out West to prairie dog hunt every year. I taylor each for their specific gun measuring the OAL. We have spent time at the range with light loads working up until we find the sweet spot for their gun. They generally have me work up a few hundred rounds every year for their hunting trips. They have told me that I should be in the ammo business but I would never get to shoot if I did that and the liability insurance would probably kill the profit margine. Any takers here in the Corn Patch of Eastern Iowa to go in on a powder order?
