My hunting partner just put two new 3-9 balistic plex Burris scopes on his rifles, one went on a Rem 308 and the other went on a new Savage 7mm mag with the accutrigger.

I've gotta say these scope are as bright and clear as anything I've looked thru and the ranging system seems well thought out and can be used at any power setting. It also does not get in the way of what your looking at with a bunch of circles and writing on the reticule.

Anyway he bought the scopes in a package with a pair of roof prism binocs and was nice enough go give me one pair. This pair of binocs sure are pleasing to look thru and after using them just before dark they sure seem to work good in low light situations.

As the years have gone buy I seem to have gravitated to higher power optics and have pentex compoct binocs in 12 and 16 power. There not much smaller than the burris, but not as good real early or real late in the day as these lower powered roof prism Burris binocs are.

Anyway the combo was a really good buy and now we've got to sight in both his rifles and my 243 that my granddaughter's going to use this fall for deer.

Sounds like you've got a real pal there faucett. I agree with you about the Burris scopes. I am looking at putting a Burris Handgun Scope 2-7x on an XS Scout mount for my .444. I went to Carter's Country here in Houston yesterday and looked through one with the plex reticle ... very bright and clear. It also has beautiful eye relief for the scout setup, and unlike some handgun scopes, parallax is set for 100 yds.

Seeing the specs online looked good, but actually looking through the scope made the real impression. Now I just have to decide between the Plex and the Ballistic Plex reticle ... I'm leaning toward the Ballistic for a few dollars more. Burris certainly isn't cheap, but for the quality of optics, their price stacks up just fine against the other quality brands.

Now if I can just keep the missus from noticing the tendrils of smoke wisping out of my wallet . This last month has seen the purchase of my new .444 Marlin, a full reloading set of equipment, gun vise, cleaning equipment, BTB bullet order, CED chronograph, and I've still yet to buy the scope, mount and a peep sight :(. Well, the Honda Civic I bought her has served as a good buffer so far ;), so I better get it finished while the goodwill is still fresh and money left in the bank :D.

I've got a friend whom has a balistic plex on a 300 Rem Ultra mag and he really likes it. He sights it dead on at 100 yards and then the reticle is good to 500 yards. He's put about a hundred rounds thru this gun with no effect on the scope and has gotten his deer, elk and bear for the last two years with it.

The Burris Landmark binoculars were in the combo deal because they aren't worth much. They are not fully multicoated, phase corrected or waterproof. They are sure to cause eyestrain with any extended use.

faucettb, I've got a set of 8X32 Burris Signature series binocs, and a Burris 2X scout scope on my Marlin. I've used SLIGHTLY better scopes, but that was when the Marine Corps was toating the note! As far as binocs go I'd say their the best I've got to use so far.
