Lately I have been experiencing some misfires with my 30-30. Even though the firing pin appears to make a good indentation on the primer the round misfires about 15% of the time. My gunsmith mentioned that I may be slightly pushing the safety back in when I lay the gun on it's side to reload. The cross block could then be slightly interferring with a clean firing pin strike. What do you guys think? THANKS

After making sure it's unloaded(sorry had to throw that in)...see if the hammer goes forward when you push it with your thumb(safety off as you normally push it, with the hammer not cocked, pull up the lever, pull the trigger and push the hammer forward with your thumb). Does it rub and not touch the metal button that strikes the firing pin? Keep doing that multiple times, all the while moving the safety back to safety and immediately back to fire, as you normally do and then trying to push the hammer forward to see if it blocked . If the hammer doesn't go fully foward and make the little silver button go flush into the locking lug, then something is stopping it. Possibly your safety not allowing your rifle to fire, but I suspect it's something else. Is it a new rifle?

The rifle is a 100 yr. anniversary model with 1894-1994 stamped on the side. Thanks for your input and I will give your recommendation a try.
