Bought a new Trapper 94AE in 44mag ~3yrs ago in AZ, but job had me start to travel very excessively... Changed job position, moved back TX and stopped most of travel... Recently, took the rifle out of the box, never fired... Was going to sight it in, but noticed carrier would not raise the shells for barrel insertion... Have broken it down and see nothing obvious... With the shorter action, than my old 30-30, looks to be a little different from 1968 model...

Any ideas what the solution is would be appreciated

I have seen an Angle Eject .30-30 with a balky carrier due to the screw being too tight. Hard to believe but true. You could move the carrier to any position and it would stay there. Loosened the screw just a little (about an eighth of a turn) and everything was fine. You could have a tight screw or a burr.
