I had posted a couple of weeks ago looking for loads for my .30-06, and you guys were a great deal of help. I decided on IMR4350, Winchester LR primers, and Hornady 150gr SST's. I used Lee Loaders for these, and a Lee scale. The two loads I did were 56gr & 58gr of powder; the 58gr definitely has more kick, but without a chrony I'll stay below the 60gr max. recommended for now. I'm trying to post a picture of the first three shots I took with 56gr at 100yds; after that they opened up quite a bit. I'm having problems with my scope, but that's a subject for another thread.
Anyway, I wanted to thank all of you for your help! I'm looking forward to zeroing in with a little more consistency once I fix or replace the scope, but for now, it's great!
Thank-you!

Real nice group. You should try to be a little more careful though. You dang near hit that dime!

Just to add my two-bits: I just finished working up a load for my 30 06. My results:
Powder: IMR 4350
Load: 57.7 Grs.
Bullet: Hornady 165 BTSP
Cases: WW
Primer: WLR
Chronied Velocity: Average 2920 with 6 FPS variation
Accuracy: 1.5 inches at 200 yards on a super calm day!
Boy was I thrilled when this plan came together.

deedmonton -- Great shooting; I need to get a shellholder for my Lee FCD, hopefully that will give me more consistency. I did find that the 58grains is a compressed load. If you're getting ~2900fps with that, then you're consistent with the books I've read. Most call for 60grains of IMR4350 for 3000fps as a max. load; not sure I want to venture there yet...The velocity yes, but stuffing that much powder into a case, I don't know. It does settle a bit if you tap the case, but still...

59.0grns IMR4350 has been my max load with 150grn bullets in the 30-06. The IMR data that I have shows 59.0grns to be a max load using Nosler 150 BT. I don't crimp any of my 30-06 loads but try to keep the bullets seated close to the rifling if I can.

It's even nicer since I put a Limbsaver recoil pad on it! Forty or so rounds from the bench, and I'm only just starting to feel it... :p

The '06 cartridge designer is a genius! Look at all the useful cartridges spawned from that wonderful case. And if you have some spare time, take a look at the 50 BMG, which simply looks like an '06 on steroids. Same shape, and seemingly, dimensional similitude. It's been with us a long time, and will be with us for a long time more.
Any shooters that are looking for an appropriate big game rifle and chambering, I tell them not to overlook that good old 30-06, despite all the glitter from the newcomers.

imr 4350 is my favorite powder for 30-06. Congrats on a good group, that's good shooting!
I load 58 grains under 165, 59.3 for 150. I don't crimp since I am shooting a bolt action rifle. I use the lee collet dies that size the neck only.

Good shooting AZ! I love to see the look on the bench guys faces when my Rem 760 carbine in 06, puts those little tiny groups downrange. Keep shooting.
