I'm going to be looking at a used Single-Six before ordering a Heritage steel frame combo with adjustable sites.
The Ruger is in the long rifle configuration only. There are .22 mag cylinders up for auction at Gunbroker. Can I just
get the cylinder separate at a later date , or would I need to
return the revolver to Ruger to fit a cylinder and double check the timing ?

Welcome to the forum, rules are simple, be nice and join in.

As for your Ruger single six question. I'm not sure if you can add a mag cylinder to an existing 22 lr. single six safely. Wwhy don't you give Ruger a call or email them and ask them. There very good about answering questions like that.

I have a single-six. like faucettb I'm not sure about adding a mag cylinder to an existing 22lr safely. Do as faucettb suggests and ask ruger They are really good.

That said if you do get a single-six whether new or used. you'll love it. It is a fun gun to shoot in either .22lr or .22mag. A girl (she likes to shoot every now and then but can't afford a gun at the moment) I know goes shooting with me every once in a while and that single-six is her favorite gun. It is a grat gun to take along if you are in the position of converting a newbie to the shooting sports.

Thanks for your insights guys.Turns out the dealer got his price confused with a Mark 1. Since I want to shoot shorts as well , I didn't buy. However , he did have a H&R Sportsman 999 in his counter. Got that for $200. I lost the bid on three of these on Gunbroker. Been trying to get one of these in good shape for a little while now. This one is about 95% on bluing and 95% on grips. Really don't think it was shot much. Only thing missing is rear sight blade , which seems to be a common problem with these. So now I'm off to e-gunparts.com.
Have a good one!
