Hey guys,

I've heard alot of good things about the lee factory crimp die. What makes it better from a normal seater/crimper like my hornady? Is it worth it to get one?
Are there any other seating/crimping dies that are better? I am loading for a .44 mag.

thanks,

I have a older lee die set for my 44spl/mag that doesn't include a fcd. I put on a good roll crimp with the seating die in a seperate stage after raising my seating plug some so it doesn't hit the bullet. I could do both at the same time but got used to doing it this way on my single stage press. I leave mine set up for 44spl and use a 44 spacer washer under the bell and seating die for magnum.

The Lee Factory Crimp Die is a great die. Not sure I can say it provides a "better" crimp than a seat die that is properly adjusted but it is a lot more controlled and easier to crimp in a separate step. Yes, they are well worth the money. As far as a "better" method, I like the Redding Taper Crimp Die on my 45-70 straight wall cartridges better than the Lee Factory Crimp Die.
