I just receivied my 50-90 sharps after waiting 4 years, It was a long wait but worth it. I would like to know if anyone eles shoots a 50-90 sharps. What loads work best *in your 50-90. I plan to use mine for Hog and Elk hunting this year.

Hi, Pappy:
    Lyman #46 has data for the 515141 (422 gr.) &  515142 (498 gr.) bullets.  The Lyman Cast Bullet  Handbook #3 also has data for the 515139 (334 gr.) and the 515138 (440 gr.)  Lyman does not have data for the .50-90 in the current #47 manual and is only making the 515141 mould now.

Jack thanks for the info, I am going to shoot the cannon today, I have worked up  two loads , 515 grain lyman fp and the 450 grain rn with a 100 gr of 1fg black powder.  

  I was told from a person who works for Shilo Sharps that the 650 grain bullet works good for long range shooting. I would like  to know where a person can purchase some of those cast bullets. I do plan to cast my own some day but it would be nice to find a bullet that works well before I buy a cast. It seems that there are not to many folks that shoot the Big fifty. It is kind of hard finding info on the loads.

I think that Mid-Kansas Cast Bullets is now offering a 50 cal blackpowder bullet.  I don't know if it's on their website yet (mkcb.com, I think), but it's in their paper brochure.  

You're right though, about 50 cal bullets being lots harder to find than 45 cal.
