Anyone know if the new 94 Legacy's with the tang safety are drilled to accept a fold down type tang peep sight ?

I ordered a 94 Legacy .357 mag (24" bbl) from W-mart today. Was just wondering about the possibility of adding a peep sight.

Thanks for any help,

Bob

No.

None of the tang safety Winchesters are drilled for a tang sight since the safety interferes with that type of sight.

The new long barrel Legacys are fitted with a marbles tang sight. they can be special ordered from marbles as they are not on the market yet.

Robert574,
It is possible to put a Marbles tang sight on the newer Win 94's with a tang safety, but you have to use a Marbles (94 MARLIN) tang sight with the long replacement screw for a Marbles (94 WIN) sight. It can be orderd seperatly.

The Marlin sight base is shorter than the Win base and will fit behind the tang safety, it's a tight fit but the safety will still work. The sight sits lower because it's a little farther back than the Win sight.

My sight has 80 clicks of elevation and it takes all 80 to get a center bull at 200 meters with a lasercast 240gr RNFP at 1400 fps in a 38-55 Win 94 Trails End.

The factory front sight is .500 high, if you use a lower one, you will be able to pick up some leeway in the elevation, which I'm going to do as soon as I get the chance, you could also shim the rear sight. Lower front sight seems easier to me.

Brownells has the 94 Marlin sight and you can get the extra Win long tang screw from them also, that you will need. This is not known by Brownells or Marbles as far as I know. My gunsmith discoverd it by accident, and it works like a charm. Hope this helps you out.
