I have a 28 mm tube Zeiss 4X that I am trying to mount on a 30-06. I initially retrofit a set of 30 mm rings with 2mm "washers." This fit, but allowed some slipping of the scope tube, so was in the end worthless. I don't want to glue the scope in this retrofit ring system either. I have 26 mm rings that I have considered milling out, but that leaves too little metal for my peace of mind. I think I remember seeing 27 mm rings produced by redfield at one time and believe these would work if I opened them up 1 mm. Does anybody else know if they were made and if so where I can find them. I don't care if they are Weaver style or dove tail, I can fit either style base to this rifle ( an Ackley barreled '06 on a 98 Mauser action). Thank you in advance if you have any info.
