View Full Version : new hunting buddy
Well, after loosing our old lab, I finally decided to get a new hound dog to ride around with me.
This one is pure Heinz but he's got the traits I like in a dog,,, he doesn't bark.
I don't care if he retrieves a thing, as long as he'll eat my cooking, pull Timmy out of the well when called on, and just be there for the ride.
Thank heavens hunting season is finally here!
Good Luck to all.
Hey, don't let him poop on my side of the jeep! :p

He looks like a good'un! Keep some water and a dish handy out there for him.
Ol' Duggie is gonna work up to a fine deer trailing dog, Tom! Something about a hunting dog that doesn't waste his time barking as a puppy tells you this pup is going to be all business.

A Man and His Hunting Buddy
Can you imagine hunting your entire life alone? Some may choose to, but for me hunting with a companion makes the experience more enjoyable. What makes for a good hunting buddy, well, it’s a long list of things that I will try and explain! To me it is one who doesn’t complain about getting up before the break of dawn, one who will not fight with you when you want to hunt in a brand new area, one that will hunt all day long without hesitation, a special one who will go out of his or her way to help recover game for you, and one who at the end of the day anticipates the next time we will go out hunting together!
I have had many hunting buddies over the years some have gone by the way side and others have die, but their memories live on. One of my newest buddies is kind of a weird fellow, he has a tendency of getting over excited prior to a hunt, and it takes me a couple of hours to calm him down. Once we are settled into the hunt he becomes focused, with the rest of the day being a pleasurable event.
It’s been almost five years since we started hunting together, each of us seems to have our own plans of attack when tracking down game animals. Most of the time, we head off in different directions, but somehow end up as a team within a short period of time. There have been occasions when I would have to call out to him, in order to find where he was, but not to often. Synchronized hunting is a good term when talking about my buddy and myself!
By-the-way my hunting companion is a Brittany and his name is “Buddy”!

Got my new hunting partner just over a year ago. She is black lab with some chow in her. Her tounge is pink and black.
Nothing compares to having a friend like that. Good luck with that new pup.
This is Lilly and she is spoiled rotten and proud of it. She simply refuses to be left when I go somewhere.

Well, ol doogie is growing up pretty good.
I take him out to the country and he usually vanishes while hunting something until I honk the horn to go.
I've got him trained well-

Hey TPV, how does that dawg keep that green ball on its head, did you glue it on?!! :p

Doogie is a highly trained and very acrobatic mutt. Try running full tilt while balancing a tennis ball on your head.
Or it could have been a game of T-ball with my grandson. I think he ran through the infield about the time this one was snapped.
He's rapidly becoming my favorite of all the pooches in my past.
All I have to say is "Hunting" and he's ready to go. He doesn't do this all day long.
At least he's slowing down some, now. Last time I saw him, he was in constant motion wanting to play!
BTW - Mason has a puppy now for a growing partner. One of those rag-mop things. Sitsu, or something like that!

Good for him. This ol dog means a lot to me, and I'll never forget my first dog. Mason will have a good friend.
