hi everyone, i'm new here, and would like your guys advice. i'm thinking of purchasing a model 94 trapper. I will be using it for huntig hogs at close ranges. I am considering the 44rem mag, the 45colt, and the 357. which one of these is big enough to take a hog with recoil around a .243, maybe a little more. i like the pistol calibres because you can hold more rounds.

thanks

All three mentioned would kill a hog and the recoil of all isn't bad at all, the 44 mag would probably be the best of the three and is fun to shoot,

My 45 colt with handloads really thumps.
Don't let a pistol cartridge fool ya.
However my Marlin in 44 mag with a 20" bbl is very light recoiling with factory stuff.

Both the .44 mag and .45 Colt will kick worse than a .243. But.... would you rather have some recoil, or have a mad hog that's not quite dead yet

.44 mag is the most versatile, but my .45 Colt 'cowboy' Marlin 1894 will toss 300 grain bullets at 1700 fps.... oink!!! :p

So true....

The 310 grains from the 45colt sound like busses in the air!!!!
God help being on the receiving end!!!!
