I traded for a 307 Winchester, but I have run into a problem. I have old eyes and need a scope. The front scope mount screws are on the sides of the receiver (like the back scope mount screws) not in-line on top. I have not been able to find anyone that has seen or heard of this particular type mount. I have checked with the local gunsmiths and Midway, no luck. Can any of you help me find one? You have an early rifle. These front scope bases are still available from Winchester and are shown on their web site under parts.

Gunparts corp used to carry these also but I dont have a current catalog so cannot speak to that.

Pulled up tha catalog to look at some screws.

The front base is cataloged as Base, Front (Holes Drilled Radially) P/N U344814050. The price is $7.00! The screws are not included but listed just above the bases.
