a couple months ago i picked up a remington 700 lss in the .7mm ultra mag.

now i need to put a scope on it.

i would like 4-12x50 and in silver. 3x9x50 could work i guess

i am looking to spend 300

i cant seem to find much. heres what im down too

simmons atech 2.8-10 silver not 50mm but still wider than 40
(seems cheap but i have friends swear by them.. i dont know if such a high calibur would mess it up??)

theres a burris fufield2 also not 50mm

other than that i cant find a silver scope with those specs

i really dont want to dish out 400+ on the vx2

any ideas would be greatly appriecated. thx Rudy

Sure, have seen lots of black/blue matte scopes on stainless rifles. Some folks like the contrast.

The new Master series of Simmons scopes are supposed to be capable of competing with the best of the moderate price range scopes. Might want to check one out.

I've got several of the older Atec models on medium bore rifles and only had one that went back for erector tube problems. Can't beat their warranty - lifetime unlimited.

Check out the Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 it only comes in 40mm but its $289 through midsouth and its a good scope, and it comes in silver. ive got one in matte and the mildot and really like it. i do believe its worth the money

Is there any reason the objective lens has to be 50mm? There are some really nice scopes with 40 or even 36mm objectives that are just as bright as the 50's. Can mount them lower on the rifle too and, to me anyway, makes for a quicker target acquisition and is more comfortable shooting.

i decided on a 4-12x40mm leupold......is the vxII considerably better than the vxI?
