Hi fellas, recently bought a new rem 7600 in 243, and since i am mostly a peep sight user, i put on a set of williams receiver sights, have used them extensivly and love them, i shoot very well with them. Now for the problem, after puting them on i noticed i feel as if the stock is too high for the sights, are there higher sights to fit this rifle ? Any advice that you guys have or any experience with this problem would be appreciated, i can shoot it this way, it just is not very comfortable for me .........thanks

I'm sure that the stock (the height of the comb) is made for scope use - that is, of course, the most common thing these days. As to taller sights... the only thing that I can think of would be one of the Lyman receiver sights..or perhaps, the Williams FP sight. You'd have to get the type made for shotguns - which mounts to the (flat) side of the receiver. Then, using a taller front sight blade, you could raise the rear sight elevation toward the upper end of it's travel.

This "solution" would require some expense and d & t to your rifle. It also might not help enough. So, my recommendation is that you look after changing the STOCK to fit you...rather than the sights. If the standard stock is wood....you can cut down the comb somewhat, to make use of the sights easier. If it is synthetic, then I'd just recommend replacing the buttstock with a wooden one, if necessary....modified to suit. This likely would be cheaper than changing the sights....and easier to get right.
