Have any of you successfully shot .410 shotshells out of a .45-70 rifle?

I wouldn't even try. There is too much disparity in head size and you would be just asking for trouble. Something chamberedn 45 LC would be a better fit is the chamber were long enough. I understand that the new 460 S&W will handle .410

If i admitted it could be done, and then you damaged yourself or the gun....if I said it couldn't be done, then a dozen people would post that they did it.
There are things that can be done that should not...probably won't blow the rifle or take out your eye...but that risk isn't something to take lightly.
Know it's been posted before...but unless the risk of not shooting is so much greater than shooting something not ment for the chamber, never stick anything in a chamber that is other than what the chamber was designed for.

You are right ribbonstone. I don't think I'll go there. I have a Springfield M6 Scout that shoots .410's just fine - think I'll stick with that.
Did it, done it, shot them out of my Buff Classic, and my T/C contender. Don't eject, need to be pushed out with cleaning rod. Usualy split's case. I think it's best to use a shotgun, maybe OK in a injun raid lol***********ogo
