Unless Lyman has recently come out with a new sight specifically for these guns, that I've not seen, you will need to drill and tap your Trail's End Winchester 94 for the Lyman 66A receiver sight. It isn't a difficult task, and well worth the effort if you want to use the rugged Lyman receiver sight. Here's an article that will guide you through the drill and tap proceedure: http://www.beartoothbullets.com/tips/index.htm
Williams Gunsight Company makes their Foolproof model specifically for the new M94AE action, and is designed to use the top scope mounting holes at the top-rear of the receiver. This too is a very rugged sight, and a direct bolt-on application with no modification to your rifle being necessary. Here's the link to this sight on the Brownells website: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=18481&title=WINCHESTER+-+WEATHERBY+FOOLPROOF+RECEIVER+SIGHTS
The sight from the list that you need is 962-200-194
God bless,
Marshall,
Does that sight you listed at Brownells also fit the Ranger Compact 94? Brownells list the sight as for the Winchester Big Bore. The rear sight mount on the Compact straddle the bolt, and there is only one screw attachment on each side. Is that what the sight fits?
Thanks,
Grizz

Brownells' 962-200-194 is Williams' FP-94SE. It will fit most (all?) of the angle-eject Model 94s, except the big bores. It fits my 24" Legacy .30-30 and 16" Ranger .45.
Here's how it installs on the Legacy - the Ranger is the same. This is actually a Williams FP-94SE-TK - the 'TK' adds the optional target knobs.
The two (badly-photographed) holes at the back of the receiver are the sight's mounting points. The gun comes from the factory with plugs installed.

Installed, "straddling" the bolt.

Action open, bolt ends up about 1/8" in front of sight.

If you go with the Williams peep and decide to also replace the front sight, don't get one of Williams' "sets" that also includes the front bead. The front sight in those sets won't work with the dovetailed barrel on the Ranger (the included front sight is meant to be installed on a factory front ramp).

DonS,
Does the Williams sight require a higher front sight (.357 Trapper), or will the factory sight work OK?
TIA, Jack

I'm not sure. I only installed the sights last week, and haven't had a chance to try them out. I plan on giving them a "shot" this coming weekend (chores and weather permitting).
I called Williams and ordered directly from them. I had heard about higher front sights when installing their FP rears and mentioned it to them. Whomever I spoke with was already aware of it. He recommended their "538W" (item 59081). Installed, it's approximately .1" higher than the factory sight (I haven't measured it, but can do so this evening).
I'll have to see where the rear sight's elevation adjustment ends up. Obviously, if it's at or near the bottom of its travel, the factory front sight probably won't work.

I was close. The factory sight is .440" tall (including dovetail). The Williams-recommended 538W is, oddly enough, .538".
I'll try to get some more info this weekend, on both the 16" Ranger and 24" Legacy. Both guns have the same Williams sights, front and rear. I'll be trying out the new Blackhawk anyway.

It looks like it might be awfully close. On my .45 Ranger (16" barrel, like the Trapper), I sighted in at 50 yds. The rear peep ended up .110" above the bottom of its travel. My front sight (Williams 538W) is, as noted above, .100" taller than the factory sight. YMMV, given any differences between my Ranger and your Trapper. If you want me to get any measurements from my setup, let me know.
Incidentally, the 538W does NOT work on my .30-30 Legacy (24" barrel). With the rear peep as low as it will go, I have to aim approx. 10" lower than the point of impact (at 50 yds). With a 27" sight radius, it looks like I need another .150" in front sight height. (10/1800) x 27 = .150. Bah. Williams' tallest Firesight is only .570" - not enough. Looks like I might have to get one of their "riser blocks", and maybe another (shorter) front sight. One possible benefit to that - their riser blocks seem to have set screws that might make adjusting the front sight a lot easier, if I file it down so it's not a really tight fit in the riser block.
On a happier note - my new Blackhawk (.45 Colt / .45 ACP) sure is fun. Only my second time using a SA, and I was getting 3" groups at 25 yds. I almost used up all my .45 Colt ammo before remembering that I had to sight in the Ranger. I'll have to bring more than 100 rounds next time :(
