Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this site. I just wanted to pick you brains to see what you could tell me about the Pedersoli 45-70 double rifle. You don't see many of them around. I wonder why.
Anyway, could anyone tell me if they are reliable? If they take a lot of work to get sighted in? Can you use Marlin level loads in them?

Any info you may have would be helpful and very appreciated.

Thanks for your time and your responses.

JT.

Another newbie here and I'm also looking for one of these beasts.
I have heard that they are regulated for the factory 405gr loads and they work fair at 100 yds. 3"-4" groups.
If anyone has one for sale PM me here.
Thanks

I think that if you go to Remingtons web site and root around a little you'll be able to find 45/70 double rifles that they import for Sparten. Don't know much more than that. Let me know what you guys find out about em.

Welcome to the forum justice. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

The Sparten is made in overseas and comes in 45-70 and will take medium loadings. They also have it in 30-06 that will take factory loadings. The barrels can be regulated by the user. They are pretty nice looking guns.

Given the choice, I'd definitely go with the spartan from Remington. Made in Russia, may not be finely tuned action wise, hard to say since the Russian made Savage doubles come in a little stiff and need to be smoothed out a little but this is a quick and painless process. With Remington branding these new rifles, I'd bet they'll be pretty decent right out of the box. One barrel is fixed and you can regulate the other to match it as per Remington tech support. For the $600 price tag, they seem to be a good bang for the buck. Don't recall what they said the twist rate was but 1:20 sticks in my head. I'm shooting nothing but blackpowder in my 45-70 and I seriously considered getting one of these doubles and having my highwall reamed out to 45-120 for the longer range work.

I've talked to several people with pedersoli doubles who constantly complain about regulation problems.
