Hey guys,
You cannot imagine how pissed off I am right now. I have stated in this forum before, and I'll say it again. I ****** HATE this ***************************** city, San Francisco, which I have to stay because of my work. (Please fill in the *** with all the swear words you can think of)
Anyway, this God forsaken place just passed the most restrictive gun law ever. Here is a link from the NRA which will explain more
http://www.nraila.org/CurrentLegislation/Read.aspx?ID=1723
So supposedly I will need to turn in all my hand guns by 4/1/06. NO F***ING WAY!!! Anyone have any guess what will happen? Does the city government have any right to rush into my house to take my handguns away? Am I not still protected by my 2nd Amendment right? Even if they do ask for them (the purchases were registered under my San Francisco address), can I make up some BS that I have left my guns with my relative in another city? Would that work? Or hopefully this proposition will go into an on-going litigation which we will never hear from again.
As fellow shooters,I think you all know what our guns mean to us. To me, they are my babies, and I wont give them up because of some retarded left winged politicans.
Stay true brother, stay true
And FYI, I did go vote today

I believe that for SF and surrounding counties the election commission was culturally sensitive and labeled Prop H as Prep H.
Seems most appropriate!

If the new ban is going to be fought I would take my guns out of the city and place them in a safety deposit drawer in a bank. That way you can be an open activist against the ban and still in compliance. Many people are on your side in your city and state - Fight them in the courts and at the polls.

Here we go...
Contact the ACLU and tell them your Constitutional Rights have been denied. When the ACLU forsakes you, contact the NRA and ask them to commence a joint lawsuit against the ACLU and Alameda County. Either way, I'm sure the NRA is going to have something to say about this.

The California Rifle and Pistol Association along with the NRA will file suite to prevent this ban from taking place. San Francisco tried this before and lost. Do what's necessary to lawfully protect your guns and stay politically active.

Toshi,
do the smart thing and remove your handguns from the city. Lock them up in a safe place outside SF jurisdiction. That way, if you do decide to stand up and openly fight this thing, they can't come and ask you if you have any "banned" weapons in your home, search, find them, then toss you in jail and cast you as a nutcase.
Be thoughtful, be intelligent, be well spoken, be calm. Do not let the uneducated cast you as a raving, drooling gun-loving nutcase. Ther are already enough of those out there and we don't need to give those who believe that all gun owners are that way any more ammuntion for their "cause".
My firearms aren't my "babies" Yes, I do enjoy shooting, hunting and everything associated with it, but they are just tools built and used for a specific purpose. That is all.
Good luck.

Right now I am just worried that when I made the purchases, I registered under my San Francisco address. So I dont know if the government have any right to rush into my house to search for "banned" weapons without me committing any crime or give them any reason to except my purchase registration address.
I love my guns to death, but I am not a crazy gun-nut. Everything I owned were purchased legally. I have spent hours working and shotting them, and to me, a gun is a very personal item. Just as someone who likes to work on his 55 Chevy, I dont think he would be too thrilled if one day someone come and take it away.

There was an article in our morning paper that the NRA had filed suit and brought it in the same court that found the last attemp invalid.

Marshal Kane,
Sorry, when I quickly posted that remark I had the 9th Liberal Court in mind.

Toshi,
I agree with the advice given earlier about getting your personal property out of the jurisdiction of the City/County that is impacted by this initiative.
Much like this happened several years ago with the 10 round magazine restriction, the "Assault Weapons" ban, etc. When those bills passed the Legislature, I immediately removed all "offending" personal property from the PDRKalifornistan.
Fortunately for me I still owned property in the "Free" State of Idaho and took everything offensive to PDRK to Idaho BEFORE the effective date of the law.
Interestingly, a friend gave me a .22 rifle because he was afraid he would be arrested for having it after the ban took effect. It looks a lot like an AK, but is still only a .22! I do think it is officially an "Assault Rifle" under PDRK law.
Be very careful, the last thing you need is to become a "Felon" as a result of your beliefs.

I've heard many gun owners on other websites criticize the NRA, but it is by far the most powerful and effective protector of 2nd amendment rights that we have. Let's continue to renew our memberships and encourage others to join. Hopefully the San Fransissyco handgun ban will be defeated.

MC Now there's a legislature passing group that should be banned! ;)

Toshi,
I don't know how Kaliornia law reads, but here in Arkansas, the Police cannot enter your home to conduct a search without a Search Warant, but since you purchased them against your San Francisco address, they may have one in their possession when they come around, that's providing that they have access to the purchase records of the establishments where you purchased them. I would move them to a secure location outside of their juristiction, and give them no reason to bother you. If they come to your door, ask to see a search warant, and then allow them access to prove you are in compliance. Get names, badge numbers, and a copy of the Search warant to give to your lawyer. (Remember, the Police are required to leave your property in the same condition that it was in when they arrived.) (NOTE Any time something is seized from your property, the Police must give you a receipt for the item.) I know of no law that says you must tell them where you have your Firearmes stored.
I would defitnitely contact the NRA no matter what.

That law will be stricken down as non constitutional under the second amendment.
