Hy everybody !

My name is Massimo (Max it's Ok ;) ) and I'm Italian hunter and firearms lover :D !
I'm from Laveno (Maggiore Lake, Varese county, Italy, very closer to Switzerland) but I'm living in Milan ( :( ).
I like wild boar hunting (I'm a dog driver) as main game course but I love any hunting activity (when I have a little bit of time  ).
My boar game team is based in Pienza, Tuscany (see my web site, sorry, just italian  !).

Nice to meet you guys !

Ciao, Max.

P.S. sorry for my english !

Max,

That is a very beautiful part of Italy, but please, the next time I come over please do not let the ground shake like the last time. I was stationed in Aviano, and we were up around Barches when you guys decided to shake up Gemona, The dammage was bad even in Pordenone.

All kidding asside, I think that my time spent in Italy will always be one of fond remembrance.

Welcome to the form, and enjoy the fellowship here this is a great bunch of people with a lot of knowledge to share.

P.S. Don't worry about your English, My Italian stinks.

Your English is fine Max. How often do you get to hunt? I have a trip to Europe in my not-too-distant future (Belgium). If you get out frequently I might be able to join you on a hog hunt.

Welcome to the board. This is a great bunch of guys and they know a lot too.....hope they don't get big heads after reading this.

Lee, unfortunately you experienced one of the bigger italian disaster. I was child during Friuli earthquake disaster but I still remember the radio to list the names of decasead :( . Italy is a amazing country but we have a very high earthquake risk  !

In any case I'm happy you still have good remenbrance of my country. I know very well the Pordenone area, my brother was soldier very closer to Aviano.

Ciao.

Flashhole,
the boar season starts November, 1st and finish January, 31st.
About the hunting activity, in Italy, is almost impossibile for a foreign  . We have a firearms legislation very very restrictive. Moreover any county as a specific legislation about accessibiliy for hunting purpose. I don't know exactly what is necessary to hunt in Italy for a foreign person. You could ask to USA Ambassy in Rome, but, according to Italian bureaucracy  I don't think you can obtain a Italian documentation in time.
In any case you can join us for food&beverages :) cerimony and for the hunt (without firearms  ) !

Ciao.

Another Welcome and hope you enjoy your stay.

Yes, it's always interesting to hear from folks in different parts of the world, and especially, see pictures of their hunts.

Question - having to use a shotgun on the boars, are you allowed to use slugs, or do you use shot shells? We have some states here in the US that will only allow the use of shotguns for deer hunting. Some require slugs only, while others will allow buckshot shot shells.
