Just brought home my new 94 in 357. Reading the manual I see that you should not use "pointy" or "conical" bullets in the tubular magazine.

I assume this applies to typical FMJ ammunition, for example,

Winchester 38 Special 130gr FMJ
I think the product nubmer is Q4171

Is there a risk of recoil-induced firing in the tubular magazine with FMJ in 38 special or 357?

Thanks
Jim

There is that chance....it isn't as easy to do as it seems, but are lots of documented cases of it happening. Probably more danger from dropping the rifle on it's butt (which would be a greater g-froce than the recoil generated by that loading) but still some danger of recoil....known people who have shot loads like that from tubular mags. and lived to tell teh tale, but I'd not. That wouldn't be my load of choice.
