We have had more than our share of poor seasons since leasing our hunting land. Last year on V/D weekend we lost two deer after what we thought were good shots. I have lost 2 on this lease when I shot them with the 44 lever. This weekend changed all that. I scored with the Marlin 1894 early in Oct. and this weekend the Little lever put venison in the freezer again.

We hunted Friday, Sat. and Sun. and killed a deer each day and one by each club member. Now that is the way to do it. It is the first time we all scored on the same weekend. The 3 deer were numbers 8,9 and 10 on the year for the lease.

I made a 30 yd shot on a little buck that was moving off but stopped and let me put the 265 gr. Hornady FN in the neck. He dropped on the spot but was still able to raise his head so he took another in the neck. He still was trying to crawl off as I put a third in the neck.

I will be glad when I get the Beartooths to shoot in this thing. I want to compare the results now that I have something to go on.

Here are the pics of the 3 County Hunt Club's number 8 and 10 on the year. The number 9 did not want to pose for a pic and we did not made her. Little ones can be that way sometimes and you don't want to see a doe with tears in it's eyes anyway.

Congrats Chief! Those deer look like they're in good shape.

Thanks Shawn. None of the deer this year have had much fat on them at all but they are healthy. Usually when they are being fed with corn the fat turns very yellow and there is a lot of it but not this year. I think they are starting to get on the corn more now due to the temps dropping and they should start putting on fat. All the white oak acorns are gone and there were not many on our lease but the other acorns are falling now. Kind of a wierd year in that everyone has all they want for the freezer and the deer are really just getting started moving good.
