View Full Version : Best scope under $100 for 10/22?

Lots of options for the cheap ones, but I don't want to end up with a cheap one. Also prefer one in silver to match my SS 10/22.

This is just a plinker though. Would like it to be accurate out to 100yds, and prefer a reticle with holdover marks - not that there will be many options with that in this price range. ;)

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

You can get a BSA Platinum or Contender for under $100 from the catalog suppliers. Some Simmons, Bushnells and Tasco's aren't too bad for a low recoil rifle like the 10/22 and are priced in this range.

How important is the AO on a 22? I'm having a hard time finding a 3-9 or 4-12 with AO in silver (to match my SS 10/22) even under $175.

You are going to have a hard time finding an AO in 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 for a low price in gloss or matte black. In silver...

From the sounds of it, you want certain features and don't want a deal with a dud. I'd look into Nikon. You may not get the reticle you want, but you can find a decent silver scope in 3-9x40 without breaking the bank. You won't get into a Monarch for what you want to spend, but look for a used and not abused medium price point scope.

Your other option might be to go Burris. Their Fullfield 2 with Ballistic plex reticle is going for resonable prices these days. Look on eBay. It won't be silver for under $225 most likely.

What sort of mods have you done to your 10/22?

It could happen. You could find exactly what you are looking for and for the price you are willing to pay. Good luck.

Thanks Michael. On another site, someone just recommended the Simmons 22mag scope. Seems to fit the bill, and is quite cheap. Any opinions on them? Here's the link: http://www.natchezss.com/brand.cfm?contentID=productList&brand=SN&mfgGroup=472&subgroup=1931&CFID=1411620&CFTOKEN=85214123 It's the one listed as: SN RIMFR 3-9X32 22MAG TT AO SILV

I've got a stock blued 10/22, but just bought a SS one on Sunday. Ordered the Hogue overmoulded stock, Power Custom Titanium auto bolt release, extractor, extended mag release and extended bolt handle. Should all be here tomorrow. Still need to figure out the barrel (.920"), scope and trigger mods.

I have put a bunch of Cabala's 2-7 Pine Ridge shotgun/black powder scopes on 10-22's and they are an excellent scope for $69. They have a 50 yard hyperfocal distance which ideal for 22's and the optics are great. They have a duplex reticle.

I just this year purchased a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32 scope in the blued/black model. Although I haven't put much time in with it, I'm very happy with the clarity. Time will tell if it's durable. I like that it comes with the claw mounts/rings. Good value, IMO.

I have a 4x Nikon Pro Staff on my 22LR that is a decent scope.

The Fullfield II's that where previously mentioned go for $150-$170 on Ebay every day, new, shipped. These would be a matte or gloss 3-9x40 with the ballistic plex. Pretty tough to beat the deal. I realize it's a bit more than you want to spend but you would be getting a "real" scope with the range markings.

Thanks guys. Ended up with a Bushnell Banner 6-18x50. Works well, other than I can't get it to sight where I want it. I'm trying to get it 1.65" high at 25 yards, which should put it on zero at 100 yards. I've got the elevation maxed in the scope and it's shooting zero at 25.

Depending on what brand of rings you have, you might have to put some shim stock under the front of the scope. Try 1 or 2 pieces of tin foil to start with.

Simple fix for that. Since it's a 10/22 you probably have a weaver style base on the rifle. Burris Zee Rings with the offset insert kit will take care of your problems with a minimum of hassle....or you could use some foil. If you are not familiar with the rings, you should take a look at them. They have a plastic insert that prevents scope damage if the rings are not perfectly aligned, which they almost never are unless you lap them. The offset inserts will adjust for windage or elevation depending on how you orient them in the rings when mounting the scope.
