Howdy,
Just got a Rem 673 in 350 Rem mag. Love the gun, but my old eyes don't see the front sight too well. The neat white dot is usually invisible when backlit.
I'd like to have to put a WIlliams firesight on it, but the only thing they have is for slug guns...don't think it will fit.
Any of you had a similar problem with the front sight? What'd you do about it?
Thanks,
monty

i stripped the barrel rib from the rifle to cut weight, and am in the process of fitting a banded ramp front sight from New England Custom Guns. they accept a variety of different front beads for different conditions.
i don't know of any sight that will screw right onto the barrel rib though.

I'm not sure how wide the rib is, but, you could mill the front sight off and cut a standard dovetail into it and put on a dovetail fire sight of the right hight, that is if the rib is wide enough.

What are you anchoring the rear sight to with the rib gone?
The rib's about 3/8" wide. There are some shotgun sights that squeeze onto the rib, but they are spendy.
The Remington front sight is 0.68" high above the rib and fairly thin. I don't think I could grind it down and cut a dovetail. Maybe a gunsmith could...hmmm, might work.
Thanks,
