I spotted Nikon Lazer 600's for about $70 off but they're refurbished, whatever that means. Anybody here have any experiences to share?

Refurbished means someone had a problem with them and sent it back to the manufacture for warrentee repair work and the factory sent him a new one. Then they went thru and repaired the old one to factory specs.

Sometimes they will have some scratches or use marks on them, but will have any problems repaired. I'm not sure but on some items you get an as new warrentee. Thats the one point I would check on when I buy anything that says refurbished on it.

I think refurbished items, I have owned a few, are OK, as long as the factory is good to go.

Refurbs by a good company like Nikon would be a safe bet, I would think.
Friends that have used Nikon's CS dept have seemed to be pleased.

IMO, it's a good way to save a couple bucks on a particular item.

Please keep us abreast of your decision.

Nikon refurb scopes carry a 90 day warranty. I almost bought one a few years ago from a dealer/friend. When I asked about the "R" infront of the serial number he called the distributor who had failed to explain that "R" changed the warranty. SWFA will tell you the same for all the refurbs on their samplelist site. I do not know how it affects rangefinders, but I'll bet it cuts the warranty way down. Leupold, burris and Pentax seconds through samplelist carry full warranties.
