Go to the ATFE web sight, download or open the C&R section in the 2000 Federal Firearms Regulations guide. In short, the C&R guns must be 50 years old and on the C&R approved list. They must be on the list regarless of age but generally the ones on the list are at least 50 years old. Others can be on the list if someone has petitioned for it to be added and it has been approved. However, just because a gun is over 50 years old does not make it a C&R automatically. It must be on the list. The C&R license only allows you to add to your personal collection; it does not allow you to deal in firearms. For that you need the 01 license. However, you can use your C&R to get the dealer discount from Midway, Brownells, Wolff gun springs, Graf and Sons,...and it allows you to have C&R firearms delivered direct to your home without going through a dealer or doing 4473s. This does not allow you buy modern or non-listed firearms though.

Yup, it's a pretty good deal if you like to mess with old guns. $30 / 3 years, and be sure to save some money first!

Not only good for mil surp firearms, but tools, parts, ets too. If you send copies to MidwayUSA and Brownells they like many other companies offer you dealer pricing on all they sell. Heck, one good order from Midway or Brownells will more than pay for the C&R license.... :D
