I'm looking at purchasing a custom barrel for my T/C Encore and have found a company that offers more choices of calibers than others.

The company is Match Grade Machine from Utah. From what I understand, most of the people at MGM came over from Virgin Valley.

Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with MGM ???

I also looked at Bullberry but they did not offer a custom barrel in 7mm WSM.

Also, are there other companies I can take a look at as well ???

Thanks

The pressure for WSM's are too great for the Encore platform, according to J.D. Jones of SSK and Fred from Bullberry. You can get a 7 RemMag, but they won't give you a WSM. I'd take the advice of the most known companies over one I've never heard of before, with a bunch of employees from a defunct company. Not bashing MGM, but I don't know about them and do the other two. Bullberry makes excellent barrels, as does SSK at a higher price.

Rebated rim cartridges don't always work real well in these single shots either.

I agree with kciH and I am very familiar with MGM. First the head diameter for the WSM rds is too great for the Encore...this greatly reduces the barrel thickness at the chamber and specifically at the mounting screw holes for scope mounts. The benfits of a WSMs are nil in an Encore anyway...you don't reduce weight of the gun, and cartridge length can be anything that fits in the chamber.
I talk to Jeff Stratton pretty regularly ( Match Grade Machine) formerly with Virgin Vallley Custom and I have one of his barrels....it is excellent and shoots like you would expect for a $450 barrel. But in this case I would not go with a WSM regardless of who said they would make it.
Rebated cases could not work very well based on the required shape of the extractor to get around the case body and engage the rim....in fact where possible rimmed cases often work much better in these type guns.
