Gentlemen,
I picked up a used Lyman 450 lubri/sizer from eBay awhile back. I'm now ready to put it into service, but it has old, black, hard lube in it. How the hail is the best way to get this stuff out? It seems harder than most lubes, but could just be old, and I'm pretty sure it's an alox lube (based on smell). I took the unit completely apart and started chipping the old lube out, even used a small torch to melt the lube out of the area around the sizing die. This may take a day longer than forever, and it's messy too.
Any suggestions for removing the rest of the lube so I can start with fresh lube? Is there a chemical (carb cleaner maybe?) that will take it out? WIll the lube melt out if I boil the unit in water? Is there another way?
All help is appreciated.
Thanks
SSB
