Folks,
I was in a local gun shop today and the topic of discussion was a Kar98k rifle from WWII. It was a dou44 with an aftermarket stock and evidence of some color bluing on a few of the metal parts. The shop was acting as the receiving FFL dealer for an internet purchase. The fellow that bought it paid $1,500.00 according to the copy of the receipt enclosed with the rifle. The shop owner and customers were amazed at the price. I offered to sell a few of my '98 Mausers for that price. All the best...
Gil

No worse than the chopped up USA built 91/30 sniper rifles selling for $399! Or the faked Snaperska Vintovka Dragunova snipers they're getting $1300 for either!

Been looking but I couldn't find it again... saw an ad on the web a week or so ago for "Genuine Russian WWII military issue equipment packs" or something to that affect was the title. Pack was supposed to include all "new un-issued condition" equipment including: 1- M-44 carbine w/ sling & bayo, 1- field cleaning kit, 2- ammo pouches, 1- gas mask, 1- mess kit, 1- equipment belt and 1- rifle tool kit. All this for the "AMAZINGLY LOW PRICE" of $2199.99 + $99.00 shipping to the FFL dealer of your choice. Ad went on to read how they aquired these "issue packs" after extensive deliberation and a whole bunch of other hookie BS.

Well, I'm no expert on Russian mil-spec issue equipment but I know for **** sure they were not issuing black nylon slings on the M-44. I also know their mess kits would not have had the Swiss coat of arms on them. The ammo pouches were definitely the Romanian style that did not come about until after WWII. The gas mask was definitely not Russian but either Turkish or Greek. The field cleaning kit contained a gas tube brush but couldn't see it enough to tell if it was for the SKS or AK. They did have an excellent pic of the allegedly "new un-issued" M-44 showing off the Russian markings clearly showing at least this sample rifle had be processed by the Ukrainian Depot of Refurbishment which definitely would not have happened with any "un-issued" arm.

I just wonder how many people were suckered into these? What really got me was that these ignorant ***'s didn't even have the decency to offer me a free Guinsu knife with my order!!!! :(
