Excellent Article!

Another hand press worth mentioning is the excellent Huntington Compac hand press. It is smaller than the Lee hand press, but more powerful, rigid, and accurately aligned than the Lee. It also has a built-in primer seating punch (including interchangeable large and small punches).

I mounted it to a ~4" diameter circle of hardwood that makes a base for it so that it can stand up on its own, if I need both hands free while handling components. Such a base could be extended on one side to facilitate clamping to a bench if needed. However, the balanced W handle/linkage design really does not need a bench to work against.

It is more pricey (~$90 IIRC) than the Lee and Lyman hand presses mentioned in the article, but worth every penny.

I started out using the Lee hand press. I still use it for depriming. It has the best spent primer handling of any hand press (a hollow ram to catch everything). For the rest of my reloading, I now use the Huntington Compac hand press.
