I am trying to find out when me rifle was manufactured. Can anyone steer me in the right direction.

If you could me the serial number on the gun I can tell you when it was made.

Call Winchecter and they will tell you. I just got the same gun. mine was made in '73
plus if you check out their web site you can send for the manual on-line

I just called and found out that my 9422M was made in '73 and my recently acquired 9422 was made in '74.
I love those early 9422's!

I hear that, yours must have the same smooth stock and no "extra safty" on it, just tha half pull. Now I just have to find an extra magazine rod, because i am sure i'll loose mine at some point. I usually buy guns to use in the field I'm not much for buying guns for the sake of buying them but, I tell you what, it would be a bed day if I put a scratch in this stock thaat is almost perfect
