My Remington 597 shoots the CCI hollowpoints into less than an inch at 100 yds, but the cat i shot with them at 40 yards took off like i missed it. When i found the cat, there still wasn't any blood on it, obvious entry points, etc. But, it was very dead....

My dad had an Anschutz that shot eh CCI hollowpoints the best also. Sounds like the ones to start with anyway.

The 17hmr ammo is all made by CCI in Idaho and gets different brand labels on the package. All the poly tip 17 gr. v-x bullets are Hornady's and the TNT's are Speer (sister co. of CCI) It seems that all the ammo shoots different in certain guns, but except for different lot #'s it's hard to figure the group size variances. I'm not much of a paper cutter except for sighting or checking but for fur I can't tell the difference in the 17 v-x brands so I just buy the cheapest. MOA Squirrel head at 100 yds. is good E nuff. I use the CCI hollow points in my Marlen model 917v 17hmr they have proved to be really accurate in the gun, CCI is also making FMJ solids for the 17hmr now those work well also.
