After casting my bullets I tumble lube with liguid alox.I then run through a sizer if needed.the instructions with the sizer said that if using for a handgun to size and load, but if using in a higher velocity situation to lube again. Does the lube on the driving bands really help or do I just need a good coat of lube in the lube grooves. When seating the bullet into the case it seems that a good bit of lube comes comes off the bands and gathers around the mouth of the case. What are the opinions of you fellows or if the procedure you follow is any different than what I do. Thanks in advance Wire nut

Going to sound too simple. IF it doesn' lead the bore, i don't add more lube. Even if it does lead the bore, will usually just try them unsized rahter than adding more liquid alox.
Have only had to double lube when shooting small diameter (under 30cal) bullets are higher speeds (over 1800fps).

With the liquid alox you need a coat on the outside of the bullets. That is the way it is designed to work. It is not like the lubes put on in a lubrisizer or cookie cutter that fills the lube grooves.
A very light coat on the outside that is allowed to dry overnight works very well for me. I usually do a light coat before sizing if the bullet needs sizing then size and gas check if needed and do another coat before loading.
If I'm not putting on a gas check (for bullets shot below 1350 fps) then I just coat, let dry overnight and load.
I've been doing this for a lot of years and it really works well. I got rid of my Lubri-sizer years ago when I discovered how well the Lee system works and how easy it is to use compared to the Lubra-sizer.

Thanks I was wondering if I need a coat on the entire bullet or just what was in the grooves.I size for the 38's I pour as we shoot them thru 4 different handguns. What do you use to keep the lube from being sticky after it dries. Thanks wirenut

Can wait a year and it nwill stillb e a little bit sticky...tar like.
If it bugs you, get some motor mica (a white powder used as a dry lubricant) and just roll them areound in a bit of it...won't be sticky, but will be white coated (like a good donut).
Sticky doesn't seem to really be a problem...i usually wait a day or two before loading.

The best donuts do not have motor mica on them. They are best when dipped in someone elses coffee!
Do not roll your bullets in powdered suger!
I am finding liquid allox to be near lead free with one coat. It is cheap and works well.

there is a simple remidy for sticky bullets that is put them in a zip lock bag about 25 at a time and shake in some babby pouder and shake them up won't be sticky then and will be ready to load  Forest Punch
