A buddy that works with me was working in alabama last fall helping to get the electricity back on.One evening walking across the beach he found a lyman mold no 358495 and handles. The lyman cast bullet book list this as a 140 grain wadcutter mold.He brought the mold to me to see if I could clean it up.Had quite a bit of rust but only a small amount in the cavity. Cavity cleaned up pretty well and I cast some bullets with it this afternoon. Bullets look good but I am getting a small amount of finning aroud the bottom of the bullet.Non of the lead is under the sprue plate.as this is the first lyman mold I have used is there a trick to tuning one of these or is it performing pretty well for what it went through. The more I used it the more rusty it got on the outside of the mold blocks. What do you fellows use to lube a lyman mold. Thanks wire nut

wire nut if you mean what do I protect my moulds with inbetween the times I use then I use edd's red which is a mixture of acetone, kerosene, atf transmition fluid mix in equal parts and just dip your mould in it and put in a plastic bag to store and when I get ready to use it again I use carb cleaner to clean it off with and let dry in the sun to lube the spew plate and the mould pins I just use a piece of wax and just touch it to them when the mould is hot and that is enough to lube the mould just make sure that you don't get any in the cavity of the mould or you will have wrinkled bullets and you will have to reclean your mould  Forest Punch
